Sparked by a degree of frustration from trying to make a relationship work for over two-and-a-half years, across six cities and different time-zones, Project LDR was born. As a creative outlet to a very personal situation, it
is an artistic expression that has emerged from the experience of a Long Distance Relationship. The project encompasses live performance, true-life stories, and critical writing on performance practice and research — brought together in a multimedia setting, with videos, text and knowledge resources — to create an ecosystem that engages the performer and the spectator at different levels. The performance ecosystem thus curated, takes cue from the demands on partners to perform relationship-roles virtually, and proceeds to explore the phenomenon further. The result is
a multi-layered space that represents a newly emerging approach to performance, its practice and research.
